Kitulgala is located in the west of Sri Lanka and is one of the wettest towns in the country. The climate is humid throughout the year, which makes it an ideal destination for white-water rafting and other water-based adventure sports. Kitulgala also attracts outdoor enthusiasts because of its beautiful scenery, which was also used in 1956 as a location for the filming of the Academy Award-winning film ‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’. It is also home to many species of endemic birds and one of the most important sites for the country’s biodiversity.
