Avukana Buddha statue of 45 feet high which is built in the National Park; Kala Wewa and BalaluWewa tanks built in the 5th century BC by King Dhatusena adorn the Kalawewa National Park but the center piece of the Park are the tusker elephants found in the star residents of the sanctuary. Only about 07% of the whole male elephant population is tuskers. Kalawewa holds its prestige in high concentration of tuskers in Sri Lanka which is most attractive sight in the Park.
As it is mentioned before Kalawewa National park is a paradise for a great concentration of tuskers as well as for some migratory herds. It should be noted that large flocks of open-billed storks are very common sight in the Park. Massive Kumbuk trees along with beautiful landscape lines add more beauty and colours to the Park.
