Snorkeling and Scuba Diving in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka being a tiny island in the Indian Ocean has attracted thousands of tourists all over the world. Pasikudaha is one of the most popular beaches in Sri Lanka and located in Northwest of  Batticaloa. Pasikudaha is famous for its unique facture as the longest stretches of shallow reef coastline in the world. since the water is not deep relatively other places in Sri Lanka and the current is week, you can walk ahead for several kilometers in the sea. The ocean at Passikudah is a home for a variety of tropical fish and it is a paradise filled with dolphins, whales, reef sharks, mantra rays and uncountable exotic sea creatures. This paradise of sea creatures is the perfect spots for diving and snorkeling.

Trincomalee

The name Pigeon Island originates from the fact that ocean of birds use the island as their breeding ground. Snorkeling and scuba diving in the pigeon island is an amazing and splendid experience as this is a paradise for sea creatures and corals. 

The ideal and best time for snorkeling and scuba diving is between 10 am to 2 pm when the sun rays directly flows on to the sea. the white sandy beach and blue waters which are clear as crystal adds perfect spot for relaxing and beach activities.

Pigeon Island situated of Nilaveli beach in the Ocean is a national marine park declared in 1963 and the second marine sanctuary in 2003 in Sri Lanka and It was in 2002 was opened for local and foreign visitors as a large group.

 it is famous all over the world as a paradise for snorkeling and scuba diving. It is recognized as one of the best and most visit tourist destination in the Island. Pigeon Island is one of the most famous and visited location in Sri Lanka. It is famous for its beauty and two islands known as Large Pigeon Island and Small Pigeon Island.

There are two distinct islands – Large Pigeon Island and Small Pigeon Island – that are home to a range of protected marine life. You will also find Coral reefs with over 300 coral reef fish species, sharks, and sea turtles. Also, the main attraction would be a lot of rock pigeons – hence the name of the island.Tourists are able to find Coral reefs with over 300 coral reef fish species, especially sharks and sea turtles such as the Hawksbill, the Olive Ridley and the Green Turtle. It is said the pigeon island was used for shooting practice during the World War by the British army. in order to have a wonderful view of a bunch of fish moving in the ocean gloriously, you have to climb the pigeon island rock. The place is ideal for swimming also but need to be careful and wear footwear because the sharp edges of the corals may hurt your leg.
