- Galle Fort, in the bayof Galle is a historical, architectural and archaeological heritage monument which was built first in 1588 by the Portugese and then later fortified in the 17th century from 1649 onwards by the Dutch. It has been maintained for more than 432 years by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. The UNESCO has recognized the heritage value of the Fort and cultural heritage for its urban ensemble which depicts the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions that prevailed between the 16th and 19th century. The Galle Fort is also known as the Dutch Fort or the Ramparts of Galle. Though the Galle Fort was not damaged due to Tsunami, some parts of coastal area were totally destroyed.
- The Galle Lighthouse is the oldest light station in Sri Lanka and is operated and maintained by the Sri Lankan Ports Authority. It is an onshore Lighthouse in Galle.
- The National Maritime Museum in Galle is located in a Dutch Warehouse within the territory of Galle Fort. UNESCO Archaeology Unit was completely destroyed due to the natural catastrophe that took place in 2004 and after 3 years of reconstruction, Museum was reopened to the public.
- The National Museum is considered to be one of the most popular and most visited national museums in Sri Lanka. it was built in 1656 and located in the oldest remaining Dutch building in the Galle Fort. The Museum was renovated and reopened to public in 1986. It contains of the collection of historical articles used by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. Out of three main galleries, the first gallery contains articles related to cottage industries, Beeralu lace weaving, traditional wooden mask carving and primarily turtle shell jewelry manufacturing. The second: a collection of Dutch era weapons and furniture. Third: things related to historical and archeological evidences of trade interaction between Ceylon and China.
- The Galle Clock Towerwith four storeys high was built in 1883 and is situated within the Fort Ramparts. The Tower was a gift of a grateful patient: Mudaliay Samson de Abrew Rajapakse showing his gratitude to Dr Anthonisz who was renowned Surgeon. It was designed by John Henry Gues Landon. The Tower holds its prestige as a popular landmark in the Fort.
- Dutch Reformed Church was built in 1755 by the Dutch and considered to be one of the oldest Proetesant churches which still functions in the country. the Dutch church known as Groot Kerk is situated within the Galle Fort.
